మా రుక్మిణమ్మ మంకెన పూల చెట్టు అని తెచ్చి ఇస్తే ఎలాగుంటుందో తెలియకపోయినా పువ్వు కదా అని పెట్టేసాను.. ఆ చెట్టేమో కాడిలాగా నా అంత బారు అయ్యాక కూడా పూలు పుయ్యలేదు.. పీకేసి ఎటైన మూలకి మార్చేద్దాం అని అనుకుంటుండగా మొగ్గ తొడిగి పూత పూసింది. ఇదే మొదటి సారి నేను మంకెన పువ్వు చూడటం.
మామిడి చిగురెరుపు మంకెన పువ్వెరుపు అని గొరింటా పూచింది కొమ్మ లేకుండా అన్న పాటలో విన్నప్పటినుండీ ఈ మంకెన పువ్వెలా ఉంటుందో అన్న ఆసక్తి కలిగింది! నేటికి మీ ఈ ఛాయా చిత్రం ద్వారా ఆ కోరిక తీరింది! ధన్యవాదాలు!

ReplyDeleteno mankena is different from Mandaara.. the song says both mankena and mandaara are red.. mankena puvvu is a very small bright red flower with yellow pollen hardly the size of a rupee coin where as mandara is a big flower, called hibiscus or shoe flower and comes in various petal shapes and sizes and colors.

In my childhood we learned verses for depicting colours by flowers and other natural items.

"Arunodayam erupu, Arunachalamerupu, ..... Mankena puvu erupu, mari donda panderupu...." It goes like that.
Do any of you know the complete verse and verses for other colours?
