It was such a pleasure seeing them work tediously on the hair and give it a beautiful form.. after seeing the villagers recycle almost everything just began storing it up.. When he had to look out for savaram (traditional hair extension) for the recent wedding in the family, all we could manage was a synthetic fiber one, so when they turned up at home yesterday could not resist to get one done with authentic hair.

ఊరోచ్చినాక నేను చాలా నేర్చుకున్నాను, ముఖ్యంగా పొదుపు విషయంలో.. దేన్నీ కూడా వృధా పోనివ్వరు.. ఆఖరికి పాత మేకులు, ఇనుప రేకులు, ప్లాస్టిక్ విరిగిన ముక్కలు  కూడా ఉల్లిపాయల వాళ్ళకి వేసేస్తారు, లేదంటే కనీసం పీచు మిటాయి అయిన కొనేసుకుంటారు.. ముందు విచిత్రంగా ఉండేది కాని ఇప్పుడు బాగా అర్థం అవుతుంది చెత్తని ఎంత తక్కువ చేసుకుంటున్నారో వాళ్ళు నేను ఎంత పేర్చేస్తున్నానో అని.. జుట్టు కూడా రాలిపోయి, దువ్వుకునేటప్పుడు ఎగిరిపోయి అటు ఇటు పడిపోయి drains కి అడ్డం పడి నానా గోల లేకుండా చక్కగా పోగు చేసి దాచేసి అమ్మేస్తారు.. చాలా కాస్ట్లీ కూడా చిక్కు వెంట్రుకలు కిలో 1000 రూపాయలు.. పది గ్రాములు 100 ఇంక ఏముంది ఎక్కడా జుట్టు కనిపించదు రోడ్ల మీద ఇళ్ళలోనూ, ఉండ చుట్టి చూరులో పొట్లం కట్టి దాచేస్తారు.... మొన్న పెళ్ళికి సవరం కొనాలి అంటే జుట్టు తో చేసింది మాకు దొరకలేదు, వీళ్ళు ఉంటారు వీళ్ళ దగ్గరకి వెళ్ళాలి అని గుర్తు కూడా రాలేదు.. నిన్న ఇంటికొచ్చి కట్టాలా అమ్మా అని అడిగితే ఎగిరి గంతేసి కట్టించి దాచి ఉంచా ఎవరికైనా ఉపయోగపడుతుంది కదా అని...

It was such a pleasure seeing the tangled messy hair take such a beautiful form within just an hour.. it was a very beautiful transformation, and to me it is definitely an art-form in these rural women that is rapidly growing out of sight..
